Cops nab five more suspects over brutal Kepala Batas machete attack


KEPALA BATAS: Five more suspects were detained in connection with the brutal attack in front of a restaurant on Jalan Raja Uda here that left a man seriously injured last Friday (May 16).

North Seberang Perai acting OCPD Supt C. Tharmalingam said the suspects, all in their 30s, were arrested during Ops Cantas on May 19 and 20.

"The operation was conducted by a team of police from the state contingent Criminal Investigation Department," he said.

Supt Tharmalingam said the investigation into the case is still ongoing.

The arrest brings the total number of suspects detained in connection with the case to seven.

On May 18, police arrested two men in their 30s after a 41-year-old man was brutally attack by three masked men at about 7.20pm Friday.

Supt Tharmalingam said the case has been classified under Section 326 of the Penal Code.

"The police are appealing to members of the public who have any information regarding this case to contact investigating officer Insp Irwan Shah at 04-576 2222 or any nearby police station to assist with the investigation," he said.
