Seremban p-hailing rider charged with two counts of raping underaged girlfriend

SEREMBAN: A p-hailing rider claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to two charges of raping his girlfriend who was two months short of her sixteenth birthday.

The rider pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to him before Judge Surita Budin.

He was charged with committing the offences between 11pm and 11.30pm at a house in Nilai on Jan 11 and 18.

The accused was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Balkis Zunaidi told the court the prosecution was offering the accused bail of RM10,000 for each charge.

She said the accused should also stay away from the victim and report at the nearest police station once a month till the case is disposed of.

The accused who was unrepresented pleaded for a lower bail as he only earned RM1,500 a month.

He said he was the third of eight siblings and provided for some of them.

Judge Surita then fixed bail at RM9,000 with one surety for both charges. She also allowed the other applications by the prosecution.

The court then set June 17 for mention.
