Armed robbers hit Menglembu jewellery store, escape with almost RM400,000 loot


IPOH: Armed robbers struck a jewellery store at a shopping centre in Menglembu here and carted away about RM390,000 worth of valuables.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said a report was lodged at about 1.25pm on Friday (May 9).

"The masked robbers, believed to be locals, entered the premises and carted away necklaces and earrings worth about RM390,000.

"The suspects were armed with a pistol and a parang.

"They sped away in a white-coloured sedan.

"No injuries were reported during the incident," he said.

ACP Abang Zainal Abidin said the case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.

He urged those with information on the incident to contact the nearest police station or investigating officer Asst Supt Fadli Ahmad at 019-250 0019.

A video of the incident also went viral on social media.

In the video, two masked men can be seen grabbing jewellery and putting it into a bag while a female store employee watches on helplessly.
