19-year-old arrested for stealing motorcycle tyre and rim in Ampang

PETALING JAYA: A 19-year-old man was detained for allegedly stealing a motorcycle tyre and its sport rim in Taman Kosas here.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail stated that a 28-year-old man reported noticing that his motorcycle's tyre and sports rim were missing when he was preparing to go to work at about 9am on April 25.

"He had parked the motorcycle at the side of the road in Taman Kosas the night before.

"His losses are estimated at about RM250," he said in a statement on Sunday (May 4).

An investigation led police to detain the suspect at a house in Taman Kosas at about 1.24am on Thursday (May 1), he said.

"We also recovered the stolen items.

"The suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine," he added.

ACP Mohd Azam mentioned that the suspect has been remanded until Tuesday (May 6).

"He had stolen motorcycle parts for his own use, and he would often do it during the wee hours to avoid detection," he said.
