Houses, motorcycles destroyed in Kampung Baru fire


KUALA LUMPUR: Three houses and three motorcycles were destroyed while another house was partially damaged in a fire at Kampung Baru here on Thursday (May 1).

The distress call was made at about 9.39am and more than 24 firemen were dispatched to the scene along with several fire engines.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohamad Riduan Akhyar said three houses were destroyed by the fire, while one house was about 40% burnt.

"The fire also destroyed three motorcycles.

"We managed to control the spread of the fire by 10.13am," he said.

No one was hurt during the incident, he added.

"We are still investigating the cause of the fire and the amount of losses suffered by the victims," he said.
