Women-owned businesses made up 20.1% of establishments in economy in 2022, says DOSM


PUTRAJAYA: A total of 219,015 active women-owned establishments were recorded in Malaysia in 2022, representing 20.1 per cent of the total registered establishments in the country’s economy, according to the Women-Owned Statistics based on the Economic Census 2023 released by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) on Wednesday (April 30).

Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin (pic) said the number of women-owned establishments operating in 2022 showed an annual growth rate of 2.3 per cent as compared to the 2015 census, with 187,265 establishments.
