Machete-wielding men rob Sabak Bernam taska

SABAK BERNAM: Three men armed with machetes robbed a taska and aggressively slapped a female teacher during an incident at Tali Air 11, Pasir Panjang on Monday.

The incident occurred around 9.35 and happened while two female teachers and a kitchen assistant were waiting for the children's arrival.

Sabak Bernam District Police Chief, Superintendent Md Yusof Ahmad, said they received an emergency call from a teacher reporting that three local men in a car had committed the robbery.

"All three suspects, armed with machetes, rushed into the premises and stole two gold necklaces and a mobile phone belonging to the two teachers.

"Police received information that one of the machete-wielding suspects acted aggressively by slapping the female teacher twice on the left and right cheeks," he said on Tuesday (April 22).

Initial investigations found there were two teachers, a kitchen assistant, and ten children on the premises during the incident.

"No children were injured, but the two daycare teachers suffered losses after the jewellery and a Realme mobile phone were stolen," he added.

Md Yusof said the case is being investigated under Sections 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery with a weapon.

"If convicted, they could face up to 20 years in prison, as well as fines and caning," he said.

Efforts to track down the suspects are ongoing, and the public with information is urged to assist in the investigation.

Those with information can contact the investigating officer, Inspector Nor Aimi Lyana Mohd Khairani, at 018-2510452 or visit the Sabak Bernam District Police Headquarters.
