KLUANG: Police have arrested two men in connection with a factory break-in along Jalan Kota Tinggi here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said a local man lodged a police report at about 9.30pm on Sunday (April 20) after discovering the break-in.

"Following the report, a team from the Kluang district police headquarters’ Criminal Investigation Department conducted raids at two separate locations within the district around 10.39pm on Monday (April 21).

"Two local men, aged 35 and 40, were arrested. Both have previous records involving criminal and drug offences.

“Urine tests confirmed they were positive for methamphetamine,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

Police also seized several items believed to be stolen, including a 60-inch television, a blue air compressor, and a red air compressor.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking, which carries a jail term of up to 14 years, a fine, or both, upon conviction.

“The suspects have been remanded for six days until April 27, and investigations are ongoing to determine if they are involved in other cases,” said ACP Bahrin.

“The incident is believed to have occurred at about 3.21am on April 18. CCTV footage showed an unidentified individual breaking into the house,” he said.

The house owner, a local woman, lodged a police report later that morning at about 7.30am.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code and Section 379A for vehicle theft, which carries a jail sentence of up to seven years, a fine, or both, if convicted.
