KLANG: A man believed to be involved in the kidnapping of a teenage girl in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, was killed following a shootout with the police.
A team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) managed to locate the 21-year-old suspect at a location in Klang at about 4.15am yesterday.
“A car chase ensued until Jalan Bayu Tinggi, Bandar Bukit Tinggi.
“The suspect refused to stop his car and even rammed the vehicle against the police and fired shots.
“The CID team managed to block the suspect’s car before returning fire and killing the suspect,” Bukit Aman deputy CID director Deputy Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus told reporters at the scene yesterday.
“A pistol and a machete were found in the car.”
DCP Fadil said the suspect is believed to be involved in the kidnapping of the 16-year-old girl in Seremban.
“The victim was kidnapped at about 5.45pm on April 10.
“The kidnappers demanded a RM2mil ransom but the family managed to lower it to RM280,000 and with some jewellery.
“The victim was released in Sendayan at about 8.30pm on April 11,” he said.
DCP Fadil said the suspect had used the same car to drop off the victim there.
“We also detained several suspects following raids in Negri Sembilan,” he added.
He commended the public for cooperating with the police in relaying information that led to the kidnapping gang being busted.
“The cooperation of the public is vital towards effective crime prevention,” he said.
Last month, three foreign robbers were shot dead after attacking a team of policemen in Desa Vista, Sepang.
The police were deployed following a house break-in in the area at about 3am on March 14.
The owner alerted the police after the house alarm was triggered.
A CID officer was deployed to track down the suspects.
The suspects, aged between 35 and 40, attacked the police using machetes before they were shot dead.
