Pulai has key role in Johor-Singapore economic zone, says Onn Hafiz

JOHOR BARU: The Pulai parliamentary constituency is expected to play a crucial role in the development of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), says Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

He said that Pulai's strategic location within the Johor Baru district makes it central to the state's economic development plans.

"This area is crucial in our efforts to attract investors to Johor. Over the next year or two, we will see many changes happening across Johor Baru, including in Pulai, which is a key area for the state’s growth," he said.

He said this during a speech at the Pulai Umno division Hari Raya celebration at Kompleks Tan Sri Mohamed Rahmat on Wednesday (April 9).

Onn Hafiz encouraged local residents to seize the opportunities arising from the state's economic initiatives.

"I hope the people of Pulai will play their part in developing the economy. Through economic growth, we can help uplift and support the community here," he added.

He also called for unity among all races in Johor, emphasising the importance of harmony and shared progress.

"Let us continue the spirit of Bangsa Johor—where Malays, Chinese, and Indians can sit at the same table and work together in peace and harmony," he said.

Meanwhile, Dewan Negara deputy president and Umno supreme council member Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said Umno Pulai will continue to support Datuk Onn Hafiz.

Nur Jazlan, also Pulai Umno Division chief, added that Onn Hafiz is a strong leader with a promising political future.

"We want him to remain the Mentri Besar of Johor," he said.

He also praised Onn Hafiz for addressing long-standing issues such as congestion at the Causeway and the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex.
