MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning for five states


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected across several regions in Malaysia, with a warning in effect until 1pm on Wednesday (April 9), said the Malaysian Meteorological Department in a post on its Facebook page.

In Kedah, areas such as Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Bahru are on alert.

Penang is also expected to experience severe weather.

In Perak, the districts of Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang, and Muallim are forecasted to be affected.

Pahang's Cameron Highlands is under the warning.

In Selangor, areas including Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, and Petaling are expected to experience adverse conditions.

This warning is issued when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.
