Cops open investigation paper on alleged bullying case


NIBONG TEBAL: Police have opened an investigation paper over a recent case of bullying after a video of the act went viral on Monday.

South Seberang Perai OCPD Supt Jay January Siowou said the investigation paper was made based on the video clip, and the case is investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.

"On April 7, 2025, the South Seberang Perai police headquarters personnel detected a 1-minute-31-second video clip on the social media platform uploaded by Utara Kini.

“In the video clip, believed to be a domitory, several individuals believed to be students could be seen committing acts resembling bullying towards another student who is on a bed,” he said in a statement.

Supt Jay said the police have taken action by identifying the institution and are tracking down the individuals believed to be involved to record their statements.

He said the video has been viewed by more than 700,000 users, with 1000 comments and shared by 445 users on Facebook.

He said the investigation is being conducted holistically, taking into account all aspects.

He said the case would be referred to the public prosecutor once the investigation was completed.

"The public is advised not to make any speculations relating to the case," he added.
