MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning for most states until 5pm


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds across most states until 5pm on Sunday (April 6).

MetMalaysia stated that the warning covers Kedah (Kuala Muda, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu); Penang (Seberang Perai Utara, Tengah, and Selatan) and Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang, and Muallim).

Similar warnings have been issued for Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Dungun, and Kemaman); Pahang (Kuantan, Pekan, and Rompin); Selangor; and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.

The forecast also applies to Negeri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, and Rembau); Melaka; Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, and Kluang); and parts of Sarawak, including Sibu (Kanowit), Kapit (Song and Belaga), Miri, and Limbang.

The affected areas in Sabah are the Interior (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan and Keningau); West Coast (Papar); Tawau and Sandakan (Tongod). - Bernama
