Thunderstorm, heavy rain warning for nine states until 9pm, says MetMalaysia


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds affecting nine states until 9pm Friday (April 4).

In a statement, MetMalaysia said the warning covers Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, Negri Sembilan, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak.

In Kelantan, the affected districts are Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Baru, Bachok and Pasir Puteh, while in Terengganu, the areas are Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu and Marang.

In Pahang, the districts of Bentong, Maran, Bera, Pekan and Rompin are expected to be affected.

In Negri Sembilan, the affected areas are Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau and Jempol, while in Johor, Muar, Batu Pahat and Kota Tinggi are on the list.

Similar conditions are forecast in Sabah, covering Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Nabawan, Tawau, Kunak and Semporna, while in Sarawak, the affected areas are Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Pusa, Betong, Sibu, Matu, Miri and Limbang. - Bernama
