Student killed as car and truck collide in Besut


JERTIH: A secondary school pupil has been killed and two others seriously injured when the car they were in collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle on Jalan Bukit Jeruk-Benting Lintang near Kampung Bukit Jeruk here.

Besut police chief Supt Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said police received a report about the accident at 1.10 pm on Monday (March 31) involving the male victim, Muhammad Nazriel Nu'man Mat Nawi, 17, who died at the scene.

He said the four-wheel-drive vehicle with a family of four coming from Kampung Bukit Jeruk, went out of control after hitting a bump in the road and veered into the opposite lane.

"It hitting the left rear of the oncoming car carrying the secondary school pupil and three others," he said in a statement on Monday.

Azamuddin said the victim, seated in the back left passenger seat, died and was sent to the Forensic Unit of Besut Hospital for a post-mortemexamination.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – Bernama
