Fire destroys jetties, house in Sekinchan


KLANG: Two jetties and a house were destroyed in a fire at Jeti Achok Lorong 11 in Sekinchan on Tuesday (March 25) morning.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said it was estimated that all three places suffered 80% fire damage.

No one was injured in the incident, which was reported at 8.57am and brought under control by 10am.

"The fire involved a row of squatter jetties and a house. Also destroyed in the fire were a van and a car," said Ahmad Mukhlis, adding that the van suffered 90% fire damage.

Fire engines, with 17 personnel, from the Sekinchan, Tanjong Karang, and Sungai Besar fire stations arrived at the scene at 9.02am.

In an unrelated incident, a 21-year-old man was burnt to death in a house fire in Sungai Chua, Kajang.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the fire was reported at 10.08am, and fire engines from the Kajang, Semenyih, and Seri Kembangan fire stations arrived at 10.13am.

The fire was brought under control by 10.45am.

He added that the victim was found in the bathroom of the house, which suffered 70% fire damage.
