Housewife killed on the way home after sending son to school

JASIN: A 42-year-old housewife was killed in an accident after sending her child to school.

Noor Faradhillah Muhammad Yusuff, who was riding a motorcycle, was hit by a car during the journey back home.

OCPD Supt Mohamad Rusli Mat said the incident happened at about 8.40am on Monday (March 24) along the Melaka-Muar road in Merlimau.

"The victim died on the spot due to injuries to her body and legs.

"Initial investigations showed the victim was riding her motorcycle from Jalan Muar Lama and was exiting a junction onto the main Melaka-Muar road after sending her child to school.

"It was then that a car, driven by a 34-year-old teacher, from the direction of Sungai Rambai towards Merlimau, hit the victim due to the proximity of both vehicles," he said.

Supt Mohamad Rusli said Noor Faradhillah was believed to still breastfeeding her youngest child, who is six months old.

The victim’s remains were taken to the Jasin Hospital for a post-mortem.

The incident, he said, would be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.

Witnesses are urged to come forward by contacting investigating officer Insp Marwan Shafiq Mohd Latfi at 011-1112 7533.
