Thunderstorm warning issued for five states


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected in Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor and Sarawak, warns the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

This warning will be in effect until noon, said MetMalaysia in a post on its Facebook page on Sunday (March 23).

In Pahang, the regions of Jerantut, Maran, Kuantan, and Rompin are on alert.

In Negeri Sembilan, Jempol and Tampin are expected to experience severe weather.

Melaka's Jasin is also under the warning.

In Johor, the areas of Tangkak and Segamat are forecasted to be affected.

In Sarawak, Kuching is expected to experience adverse weather conditions.

Warnings are issued when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to last more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
