Sandakan folk urge local council to clear drains

KOTA KINABALU: Residents in flood-prone neighbourhoods in Sandakan are urging the local council to clean and widen clogged drains, claiming that poor drainage systems have worsened the impact of heavy downpours.

Among them is maritime enforcement officer Wan Mohd Alphaisa Wan Yusoff, 45, who rushed home to protect his family and belongings after receiving an urgent call from his wife.
