Faisal returns to Harimau Malaya squad for Asian Cup qualifiers

PETALING JAYA: Faisal Halim re-joins the Harimau Malaya squad ahead of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

The Selangor winger is among 27 players called up by national team head coach Peter Cklamovski for the team’s centralised training camp starting on Monday, in preparation for facing Nepal in the third round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Faisal’s return to the national team is surprising, as he suffered an acid attack in May last year, which left him with severe injuries and requiring skin grafts to his face and left arm.

The 27-year-old demonstrated his skill by scoring a stunning hat-trick in Selangor’s 7-0 win against Kelantan in the Super League on Saturday.

Cklamovski has also retained nine players from the squad that competed at the AFF Cup last December.

The Harimau Malaya squad will train for eight days in Johor Baru starting on Monday before taking on Nepal on Tuesday at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.
