MetMalaysia: Moderate quake jolts Sumatera, no tsunami threat to Malaysia


KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake, measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale, struck North Sumatera, Indonesia at 8.42 pm on Friday (March 7).

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said in a statement that the quake occurred 69km west of Banda Acheh, Indonesia, at a depth of 80km.

The quake, however, does not pose any tsunami threat to Malaysia. - Bernama
