Two men suffer 75% burns after three-storey Klang shophouse goes up in flames


KLANG: Two men suffered around 75 % burns in a fire at a three-storey shophouse at the Sungai Puluh Industrial area near here Sat.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the fire was on the ground floor of the building.

"About 85% of the premises was damaged by the fire," Ahmad Mukhlis said, adding that three vehicles were also affected.

As for the two victims, Ahmad Mukhlis said their identities could not be determined.

The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 4.54pm and fire engines arrived at the scene at 5.03pm and the fire was brought under control by 5.10pm.

Firemen from the North Klang fire station were helped by their counterparts from the South Klang and Kapar fire stations.

Firemen were still dousing renments of the fire at press time.
