Teacher accused of having relationship with year six student

PETALING JAYA: A male teacher at a primary school in Dengkil here is being investigated by the police after allegedly having a special relationship with his 12-year-old student.

The child’s father had lodged a police report on Wednesday (Feb 26) after suspecting that his daughter was frequently contacted by the suspect through TikTok, Love8 and WhatsApp applications.

According to Sinar Harian, Sepang OCPD Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman said, a preliminary investigation found that the message sent by the 30-year-old teacher was suspicious and did not show a professional relationship between the teacher and the student.

"Based on reports, the complainant became suspicious after finding inappropriate messages between the suspect and the victim sent through several social media applications.

"The suspect is believed to be using the communication medium to connect personally with the victim without the family's knowledge," he said in a statement on Saturday (March 1).

According to him, the case is being investigated under Section 15(a)(iii) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

"Investigations are still ongoing. The public is advised not to speculate, spread news and untrue information related to this case," he said.
