Cops detain Semenyih man for allegedly raping niece

KAJANG: A 43-year-old man has been detained for allegedly raping his young niece.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said the little girl lodged a police report at about 4.35am on Feb 20, alleging that her uncle had raped her.

"The incidents were believed to have happened in August last year and January this year in Semenyih," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 26).

The suspect was detained on the same day the report was lodged.

"He has been remanded for further investigation."

"We are investigating under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, which carries up to 30 years imprisonment and a maximum of 10 lashes of the whip upon conviction," he said.
