KOTA KINABALU: The Sentuhan Kasih Rakyat 2025 programme, also known as Syukur, which provides RM300 in monthly cash aid to eligible recipients this year, is set to benefit 100,000 poor and hardcore poor individuals in Sabah.
In a statement on Tuesday (Feb 18), the Sabah Chief Minister's Department said the programme will be launched by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor at the Sabah Bajausama Cultural Centre in Tuaran on Wednesday (Feb 19). The initiative will cover poor and hardcore poor heads of households (KIR) registered under eKasih as of December 2024.
"The aid will be disbursed in phases, with each phase providing a lump sum payment for three months. This means RM900 will be credited into recipients' bank accounts for those with accounts, while others will receive the aid in cash.
"The Syukur programme aims to ease recipients' financial burden, support those in need for a better quality of life, reduce poverty rates and reflect the government's commitment to the people's well-being," the statement said.
According to the statement, Phase One (January-March) will be distributed from this month, Phase Two (April-June) beginning in April, Phase Three (July-September) beginning in September, and Phase Four (October-December) in October. – Bernama
