Police confirm recording conversation of Tengku Mahkota of Pahang's 'future wife'

PETALING JAYA: Police have confirmed that they have recorded the conversation of a woman who allegedly claims she will marry the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, in April.

Pahang Police Chief, Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman, said the police were in the process of completing the investigation into the 38-year-old woman, known as Faridah Daud.

"We managed to trace her to Perak, and her conversation has been recorded," Yahaya said in a press conference at the Pahang Police Contingent Headquarters on Tuesday (Feb 4).

"The investigation is in the final stages before the case is handed over to the deputy public prosecutor's office," he added.

Yahaya said that the case is being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.

On Dec 17, Yahaya had urged the woman to present herself at the nearest police station to assist with the investigation into the allegation.

Earlier, the Pahang palace had denied any upcoming wedding involving Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah and any individual in April.

Faridah's claim on Instagram had confused the public, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
