Meth addict slashes Singaporean in Kluang


KLUANG: A 37-year-old man was arrested for slashing a Singaporean man with a parang at Kampung Tengah, here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident occurred on Friday (Jan 31) at 5.5am.

“Following the incident, a team from Kluang police station arrested a 37-year-old man at the scene at around 6.10am.

“Checks revealed that the suspect had a criminal record, including two previous criminal cases and five narcotics-related offences,” he said in a statement here on Saturday (Feb 1).

He added that a urine test conducted on the suspect returned positive for methamphetamine.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by a dangerous weapon.

He is also investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing mischief.

The suspect has been remanded for four days until Feb 3, while police continue their search for two additional suspects who remain at large.
