Sabah floods: 4,990 victims displaced in 10 districts


KOTA KINABALU: The number of flood victims relocated to 35 shelters across 10 affected districts in Sabah increased to 4,990 people at midnight on Friday (Jan 31).

Kota Marudu district had the highest number of evacuees at 2,864 in nine temporary relocation centres there, according to the state disaster management committee secretariat in a statement here.

The other affected districts are Beaufort, Tongod, Telupid, Sandakan, Kota Belud, Lahad Datu, Beluran, Paitan and Pitas.

However, there are no reports of deaths received by the secretariat due to the flood so far.
