Subang cops nab six over robbery, assault of two victims

SUBANG JAYA: Withing 24 hours of receiving a report, the police successfully detained six local individuals believed to be involved in an armed robbery at a house on Jalan Bunga Melur, Batu 14, Puchong, near here on Sunday (Jan 26).

Subang Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Fairus Jaafar said they received a report on the robbery at 12.13am through a MERS 999 call, Malay language daily Sinar Harian reported.

He said an estimated 11 masked men carrying several machetes had forced their way into the victims' house.

He said the group of criminals, who arrived in three cars, opened the unlocked gate and house door and then ran into the residence.

"The suspects attacked two male victims, aged 31 and 38 years old, who were in the living room of the house and repeatedly hacked them with a machete," he said in a statement on Monday (Jan 27).

According to him, all the suspects then fled in three cars.

He said the investigation found that the masked suspects armed with a six-inch long knife had entered the house through the unlocked front door.

Both victims are currently receiving treatment at Serdang Hospital and are in stable condition.

In relation to the incident, he said, they carried out a manhunt for the suspects and managed to detain six men aged between 23 and 28 years old at 8pm on Sunday to assist in the investigation.

He said the police also confiscated a machete believed to be used by the suspects in the incident.

"No items belonging to the victims were lost. The cause and motive of the incident are still under investigation," he said.

He added that all the captured suspects have criminal and past narcotics records.

He said the suspects have been remanded for three days until Wednesday (Jan 29) for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under Sections 394 and 326 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing injury during a robbery and intentionally causing injury using a weapon.

He added that the detained suspects are believed to be involved in the case being investigated and further investigations are still ongoing to identify other involved suspects and the motive of the incident.

"The police ask the public who have information to come forward and contact the Subang Jaya District Control Centre at 03-7862 7222.
