Seven nabbed over parcel theft in Klang Valley, Negri

AMPANG: Six men and a woman have been detained for allegedly stealing delivery parcels.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the suspects were employees of a courier company in Taman Cheras Indah.

"The company's security manager lodged a police report on Monday (Jan 13) that several customers were missing delivery items.

"When they opened the parcels and packages, it was empty," he said in a statement on Saturday (Jan 18).

The security manager investigated and discovered several workers had taken out parcels from the company's warehouse without registering, he said.

"He suspects the workers had stolen the parcels and the losses amounted to RM21,818," he said.

ACP Mohd Azam said the police detained the seven suspects, aged between 21 and 51, in the Klang Valley and Nilai, Negri Sembilan from Monday until Friday (Jan 17).

"We also seized several items believed to have been stolen.

"We are investigating under Section 381 of the Penal Code for theft by employees and Section 380 of the Penal Code for stealing inside a building," he said.
