Suspects in murder case held longer

KAJANG: The remand of the three suspects over the murder of 15-year-old Yap Xin Yuan has been extended by five days.

“The remand period has been extended until Jan 10,” Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said when contacted yesterday.

The three suspects are the victim’s boyfriend, his father and his brother.

They were arrested on Dec 30 to assist in investigations.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan had said that toxicology and post-mortem reports will determine whether Xin Yuan died due to an altercation or possible drug use.

Police had revealed that a decomposed body found in a river on Dec 28 had been identified as that of the teenager who was reported missing on Dec 19 after lion dance practice at a basketball court in Cheras.
