Over 900 supporters at Najib rally, say police


PUTRAJAYA: More than 900 supporters have gathered for the solidarity rally for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Putrajaya OCPD Asst Comm Aidi Sham Mohamed said on Monday (Jan 6) that the crowd is mostly gathering at the back and front right side of the Palace of Justice.

"We estimated more than 900 supporters as of 10am. The situation so far is under control,” he said.

Around 456 police officers and personnel from Putrajaya district police headquarters and the KL police headquarters have been stationed at the Palace of Justice and surrounding areas.

"We also set up three roadblocks on the main routes to the Palace of Justice from 8pm on Sunday (Jan 5). As of this morning, traffic has been mostly smooth,” he added.

So far, police have detected people carrying banners with the words "Solidariti Untuk Najib Razak" (Solidarity for Najib Razak), he said.

"We will continue to monitor the situation closely," added ACP Aidi Sham.
