‘Homewrecker’ assaulted by five women

KOTA KINABALU: A 36-year-old woman was ambushed and assaulted by five other women in Tawau district after she was accused of being a ‘homewrecker’ earlier this week.

The victim, a divorcee, claimed that her vehicle’s tyres were deliberately punctured before the incident on Monday.

It is learnt that tensions flared after the woman was accused of being a “homewrecker”.

However, she maintained that her boyfriend was single.

Confirming the incident, Tawau district police chief Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said that a report was filed on Wednesday.

“In the report, the woman stated she was attacked by five women when she was at the hotel carpark.

Additionally, her vehicle was vandalised, with its tyres punctured,” he said.

Police have since launched an investigation under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 427 for vandalism.

Police then detained five suspects, aged between 16 and 62.

“We have secured a remand for the suspects and are carrying out further investigations, including identifying witnesses to shed more light on the incident,” ACP Jasmin added.
