Famous comedian sentenced to six-month imprisonment in Saudi Arabia

KUALA LUMPUR: The famous comedian, who was detained in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in October last year for drug possession, is serving a six-month prison sentence.

The sentence was handed out during his trial in November.

"He has a chance to be freed earlier on good behaviour.

"His full prison sentence is expected to end in April," sources said on Thursday (Jan 2).

Previously, the Malaysian Embassy in Riyadh confirmed the detention of a Malaysian in Jeddah, suspected of being in possession of ganja, but the identity was withheld.

Since the individual was detained, the embassy and the Malaysian Consulate in Jeddah have provided assistance.

Due to various factors, the Malaysian Embassy in Riyadh and the Malaysian Consulate in Jeddah could not disclose further information on the case.
