Gempur Rasuah rally faces opposition from Bangkit Sabahan


KOTA KINABALU: A group of demonstrators arrived at the Menara Kinabalu area at around 3.20pm on Tuesday (Dec 31), with placards and posters calling for clean governance.

Over 100 people began walking from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) at 2pm.

They group plans to remain in the area past midnight.

Police and armed forces personnel were present to maintain peace.

Meanwhile, another group gathered in the Anjung Senja area not far away and held another rally in support of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

The group, which calls itself Bangkit Sabahan, is opposed to the Gempur Rasuah rally organised by Suara Mahasiswa.
