Cops seize RM1.2mil worth of heroin base during Petaling Jaya bust

KUALA LUMPUR: Heroin base valued at RM1.2mil was seized following the arrest of a man in Bukit Gasing, Petaling Jaya.

Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Seri Khaw Kok Chin stated that the 48-year-old suspect was detained at about 5.30pm on Monday (Dec 23).

"We also seized some 7.4kg of heroin base from the suspect's car.

"The heroin base was packed into 20 compressed chunks," he said in a statement on Saturday (Dec 28).

Further investigation led police to a house in Puchong on Friday (Dec 27), where 16 other compressed chunks of heroin base were seized.

"The overall drug seizures amounted to 13.3kg of heroin base worth RM1.2mil.

"We believe the drugs could have been supplied to 900,000 users," he added.

Comm Khaw noted that the suspect had a prior drug offence but tested negative for drug consumption.

"He has been remanded until next Monday (Dec 30)," he said.

The NCID is committed to more aggressively busting drug trafficking, Comm Khaw stated.

"We urge those with information on any drug-related offences to contact the NCID hotline at 012-2087222," he said.
