Perak flood evacuees rise to 610


IPOH: The number of flash flood evacuees has risen to 610 people in Perak.

According to the state Disaster Management Committee spokesman, the victims, from Kinta, Kampar, Hilir Perak and Larut, Matang and Selama districts, are currently sheltered at eight temporary relief centres.

There had been about 340 victims on Sunday night.

He said Batu Gajah was the worst-hit district, with 188 victims seeking shelter at Dewan Bandaran Kinta and 175 more at SK Tiwa in Tronoh.

"There are 81 victims in Hilir Perak and 66 in Kampar," he said.

"The relief centre at Kampung Sri Kinta community hall in Ipoh has been closed," he added.
