Floods: 20 federal roads in six districts in Kelantan closed


KOTA BHARU: A total of 20 federal roads in six districts in Kelantan have been closed following floods that hit the state since Wednesday (Nov 27).

Kelantan Public Works Department director Nik Soh Yaacoub said the six districts were Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Tumpat, Tanah Merah, Pasir Puteh and Bachok, adding that 12 of those roads were closed to all vehicles, while the remaining eight were closed to light vehicles only.

"The federal roads that are closed fully to all vehicles in Pasir Mas are the road near Kedai Tanjung, Kampung Tok Deh, Culvert 5 in Jalan Kota Bharu-Pasir Mas-Rantau Panjang, Kubang Rambutan, AADK Lubok Jong, Jambatan Lubok Jong-Risda Gaung, Jambatan Tersang and the Rantau Panjang traffic light.

"In Tumpat, the closed roads are at Kampung Telaga Bata-Kampung Pauh Sebanjar and Terowong Pasir Pekan, while in Tanah Merah, the affected roads are near Kampung Pepuyu-Kampung Kajang and Kota Bharu in McDonald's Kok Lanas," he said when contacted by Bernama Friday (Nov 29).

Meanwhile, the eight federal roads closed to light vehicles include two roads in Kampung Badak and Kampung Gaung Jalan Bypass (Pasir Mas), Caltex Padang Melintang-Petron Beris Kubu Besar and Sekolah Kebangsaan Banggu (Bachok), the traffic light at Jerus and Panggong Tiga Daerah (Pasir Puteh) as well as Sekolah Kebangsaan Tiong and the culvert curve, Jalan Pantai Cahaya Bulan (Kota Bharu). – Bernama
