Sarawak announces two-month bonus for its civil servants

KUCHING: State civil servants in Sarawak will receive a two-month bonus this year, says Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg.

He said the bonus would be paid next month in recognition of the civil service's contributions and commitment.

Additionally, he announced a bonus of RM700 for federal civil servants in Sarawak, to be paid in the first quarter of 2025.

"We also appreciate the contributions of federal civil servants serving in Sarawak," he said in his winding-up speech at the state legislative assembly on Wednesday (Nov 20).

The bonus payments to both state and federal civil servants will involve a total sum amounting to RM190mil.

Abang Johari also said the state government will introduce special monthly allowances for state civil servants starting in January.

He said this would augment their salaries in line with the Federal Government's new Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), which will also be adopted by Sarawak.

The monthly allowances range from RM400 to RM700 based on the civil service salary grades.
