BUKIT MERTAJAM: A woman was killed on the spot when a container being transported on a trailer lorry toppled and crushed her car near Bukit Tengah here.The deceased was identified as 21-year-old Lee Zi Rou.
It is learnt that Lee was waiting at the Jalan Kebun Sireh-Jalan Bukit Tengah traffic lights when the lorry, coming from the opposite direction, made a sharp left turn.
This reportedly caused the container it was carrying to overbalance, detach and fall on the victim’s car during the 9.15am accident yesterday.
Lee, who was alone in the car, was reportedly on her way to work.
The container and wreckage of the car left both lanes of the road blocked temporarily.
Several other vehicles were also damaged, with another driver sustaining injuries.
The injured victim, identified as Tan Chou Theng, 25, was rescued by passersby before being rushed to a nearby hospital.
