Brush with the law: Man nabbed for graffiti on Teluk Intan bridge

IPOH: Police has detained a 44-year-old man for painting graffiti on the road surface of the Kg Bahagia iron bridge near Teluk Intan.

Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said police received a call concerning the incident on Saturday (Nov 2) at about 10pm.

He said a motorcycle patrol team dispatched to the location saw the man painting the road surface in several designs.

“They arrested the unemployed man and seized four tins of paint of various colours.

“The suspect tested positive for ganja, and he also has eight prior criminal records from between 2012 and 2022,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 3).

ACP Ahmad Adnan said the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code with the suspect remanded for three days until Nov 6.

“The investigation papers will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor’s office,” he said.

He urged the public not to vandalise public property.

“Awareness and collective responsibility to take care of the cleanliness and safety of the community is important,” he added.
