Sabah Council of Churches calls Malaysians to embrace Deepavali values

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Council of Churches has called upon all to embrace the values of love, compassion, and unity that Deepavali represents during this festive season.

Its president Bishop Datuk Melter Tais said this festive season symbolises the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and hope over despair.

“As we gather to celebrate Deepavali, the Festival of Lights, I extend my heartfelt greetings to each of you,” he said.

“It is a time for reflection, gratitude, and the renewal of our spirits.

“In this season of joy, let us embrace the values of love, compassion and unity that Deepavali represents,” he said.

He prays for the lights of this festival to illuminate everyone’s hearts and guide all towards greater understanding and harmony within the communities.

He called upon all to also remember those in need as we celebrate with family and friends.

“May our actions reflect the spirit of giving and sharing that is so central to this occasion,” he said.

Wishing you all a blessed Deepavali filled with peace, joy, and the warmth of love,” Tais added.
