Lorry driver killed after oil tanker veers off NSE into ditch


IPOH: A lorry driver was killed after the oil tanker he was driving veered off into a ditch at KM263 southbound of the North-South Expressway near here.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the 40-year-old man was pronounced dead on the spot following the incident at 10.49am on Tuesday (Oct 29).

Sabarodzi said apart from the driver, a 34-year-old lorry attendant was also found trapped in the vehicle during the incident.

"The body of the deceased was handed over to the police for further action," he said in a statement.

"The lorry attendant, who suffered serious leg injuries, was sent to hospital in an ambulance," he added.
