Mother and daughter nabbed for allegedly abusing maid with hot iron, hammers

KUALA LUMPUR: A mother and daughter have been arrested in Ampang Jaya for allegedly abusing their maid.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail stated that the 25-year-old Indonesian victim escaped from her employers with the help of the public.

She reported her ordeal to the police on Oct 13, claiming she was abused with hot clothing irons and hammers.

The victim sustained injuries to both her arms and legs.

The motive behind the abuse is believed to be accusations from the employers of the maid being lazy and frequently forgetting housework instructions.

ACP Mohd Azam added that the victim could not recall how long she had been subjected to abuse during her employment.

On Oct 14, two women, aged 40 and 61, were arrested in Taman Putra Sulaiman.

Both women have no prior records and have been released on bail until investigations are completed.
