Three cops caught using drugs in raid

KUALA LUMPUR: Three policemen were detained after testing positive for drugs following a raid at an entertainment outlet in Taman Dutamas, Cheras.

The party came to a halt when a team from the Selangor police headquarters raided the premises early Saturday.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the arrests, stating that the three officers were among 14 people detained in total.

The policemen aged between 37 and 57 were attached to the Kajang district police headquarters.

“Checks revealed that all of them, including the three policemen, tested positive for drugs,” he said when contacted yesterday, adding that the three officers, along with the remaining 11 individuals, have been remanded for further investigation.

“All three police personnel have been transferred to the Selangor Management department pending the completion of the investigation. We will also conduct a disciplinary investigation,” he said.Comm Hussein said police officers and personnel are prohibited from patronising entertainment outlets unless on official duty.

“Any officer or personnel who violates regulations, including those involved in drug abuse, will face severe consequences, including criminal prosecution,” he warned.

Last week, a dozen policemen were arrested in Kedah after a raid by the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department.

A total of 31 people were found to have tested positive for drugs after a raid at an entertainment outlet in Sungai Petani.

Of that, 12 were policemen, including two officers.

News of the arrests had been making its rounds on social media.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain had said that the police will not “turn a blind eye” on those in the force found with disciplinary issues and criminal offences.

“I have instructed the Kedah police to suspend these personnel immediately.

“Aside from that, we will also be going after their supervisors. We will be taking action against them under Rule 3C of the Public Officers Regulations (Conduct and Discipline) 1993,” he said.

A news portal reported that a policeman was detained for allegedly hosting a party with four guests at a police station in Selangor on Sept 28.

The policeman, along with a local man, a local woman and two Indonesian women were detained. While the room was dimly lit, no drugs or alcoholic beverages were discovered.
