Floods: Three districts hit in Johor


JOHOR BARU: The flood situation in Johor has worsened, with three districts affected as of noon on Monday (Oct 7), from just one district less than 24 hours ago.

The three flood-hit districts are Kluang, Pontian, and Batu Pahat.

According to the state disaster management committee, a total of 891 people had been sent to temporary relief centres as of noon, up from 808 two hours earlier.

"A total of 11 relief centres have been opened to house the flood victims from 262 families.

"Kluang has eight relief centres, which is the most so far, while two centres have been opened in Pontian and one in Batu Pahat," the committee said in a statement.

It added that as of noon, the weather in eight out of the 10 districts in Johor was sunny, while skies over Pontian and Tangkak were cloudy.
