Twelve-year-old prodigy accepted into Universiti Malaya

KUALA LUMPUR: A 12-year-old boy, Izz Imil, has been accepted into Universiti Malaya.

Universiti Malaya vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Seri Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman said given the boy's age, he should be given space to flourish.

"Given Izz Imil's young age, the university requests that all parties provide space and privacy for the student to go through the learning and adaptation process at the university.

"This is crucial to ensure he experiences a conducive growth process while successfully pursuing his studies," he said in a statement on Sunday (Sept 29).

He added that Izz underwent an interview process with a special committee established by the university and was approved by its senate to continue his studies at Universiti Malaya.

Izz will be an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics program at the Faculty of Science.
