'Neon Walk 4.0' to give cheer to cancer patients in Melaka

MELAKA: The Lion's Club of Tanjung Bidara is preparing to hit the streets with its annual "Moonlight Walk" for a good cause next month.

The Club's president Gan Tiong Kee said the Neon Walk 4.0 will be held at Bandar Hilir here on Oct 5 to raise funds for the treatment and aftercare of cancer patients.

"This is the fourth year that we are organising the event. We are targeting some 2,000 participants to join the glow-themed walk for a worthy cause," Gan said on Monday (Sept 23).

He said the fun-filled event is open to all ages and will feature attractive prize giveaways. He hoped the walk would make it a night to remember and provide some positive social support to cancer survivors.

Gan said Himalaya Sports Malaysia has agreed to be the main sponsor while the National Cancer Society of Malaysia has also pledged its support.

"We are confident of collecting a significant amount on the event day with the support of the locals," he added.

Last year, the club raised RM60,000 in aid of cancer survivors during the walk.

Those interested in joining the event can contact 012-6398030 (Josephine Tan).
