Drunk man sleeping in car robbed in Ipoh, falls back asleep


IPOH: A man who was sleeping in his car as he was under the influence of alcohol and unable to drive was robbed – but then fell back to sleep after the incident.

Perak police chief Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said that the 60-year-old victim was robbed by two men on Jalan Sultan Nazrin Shah at around 1am on Sept 17.

"He stopped by the roadside as he was drunk. At around 5.10am, he was woken up when two suspects smashed the back window of his car," he said after presenting certificates to retirees and future retirees of the state police contingent ceremony on Wednesday (Sept 18).

The victim's mobile phone and car keys were stolen.

"The victim, who was still under the influence of alcohol then fell back to sleep.

"At 8am, a passer-by woke him up and he contacted his wife to get his spare car keys," he said.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery and are on the hunt for the suspects.
