KUALA LUMPUR: Those with information about alleged misconduct by GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd are advised to report it to the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim), says Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.
He said detailed information is essential for Jakim to thoroughly investigate GISB’s activities.
"I have directed Jakim to meet with GISB’s top management. At the same time, anyone with information about GISB, whether current or former members, should come forward and file a report with Jakim,” said Mohd Na’im.
He noted that determining whether a teaching is deviant falls under the purview of Islamic agencies, including Jakim, adding that people with specific information about GISB should report it directly to the authorities rather than discussing it on social media platforms like TikTok.
Mohd Na’im said this to reporters after a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on Monday (Sept 9) between the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) and the Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK).
He assured us that Jakim would thoroughly investigate the allegations against GISB Holdings.
It was reported last Saturday that Mohd Na’im had directed Jakim to engage with GISB to obtain detailed feedback and explanations regarding the company’s alleged connections with deviant groups such as al-Arqam and Rufaqa.
In addition, Mohd Na’im has requested the police (PDRM) to investigate claims related to religious misconduct and child exploitation associated with GISB.
"We trust in PDRM's professionalism and have asked them to ensure a fair investigation,” he said.
Earlier reports indicated that PDRM is actively investigating the allegations against GISB related to religious issues and child exploitation.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has confirmed the ongoing investigation. – Bernama
